BGISD Bond Update – Building for the Future!

This week, our focus at Blooming Grove Elementary is DRAINAGE!

Drainage has been an issue around our elementary campus for many years, and through our bond project, we are making major improvements to address it the right way. Crews are installing a new underground drainage system designed to move water efficiently away from the building, parking areas, and other critical areas of the campus.

Progress continues every day, and we are excited to see all of these pieces coming together.

all right good morning Blooming Grove ISD I'm here with Brandon Armstrong with bounds commercial construction we want to give you guys a little bit behind the scenes of of what's going on here at the elementary we spoke on our bond update uh Friday about a lot of the stuff that's going on under the ground to improve our drainage for years and years and years this uh North playground area is drained into the back of our school and and 1 of the things we wanted to do was fix this for the for the Long Haul so Brandon tell us a little bit about what we got going on here well like you said a lot of people didn't understand the drainage issues around the campus and uh that's what we're addressing right now and I I apologize to all the kids that are trapped inside the building right now but we're doing this as quick as possible uh we're the drainage starts as we will have catch basins throughout the parking lot that will catch water before it gets to the building we have a curb inlet down at the new uh Early Childhood parking lot that will catch all that water and then we have catch basins along the back of the building with uh greats that will catch that water this all is in a 30in 5 underground that nobody sees uh doesn't understand it's taking place right now but this will dump out in the new detention Pond which will do a slow release uh in the front of the building so that's where we're at on that we're trying to get it done as quick as we can we're having a little bit of trouble with uh material but we definitely have it all on the way and it should start arriving towards the end of this week so we can wrap this up yep and that drainage not only is going on in the back of this school but improving all the drainage in the front as well cuz we we strongly believe that the years and years and years of that parking lot deteriorating and that asphalt breaking up and all the potholes was kind of centered around the drainage issue so there's been a lot of focus on getting the drainage on this whole side done so all right we're going to walk in video a little bit we'll uh put put together some video of everything that's going on I appreciate everybody's patience and and looking forward and thanks balance commercial construction with all the work that they're doing to to get us back going so appreciate you guys thank you all right Brandon tell me what we got we're back in front of the school so tell me what we got going on here so here's where all the water will come out of these all the storm drains catch basins down spouts is all going underground this is where they'll come out and they'll still get finished out with concrete uh inlets on it but uh once it comes out of these 2 it goes down there to the new detention Pond uh not to be confused with retention this does not hold water this just gives a slow release out to the ditch so that we don't flood anybody all right getting our drainage issue fixed
